If you love color, especially in a teenage girl’s bedroom, you’re going to love this!
This room was madeover to reflect the personality of a 13 year old teenager. It’s fun and vibrant – just like her!
It isn’t a very large room at all, but is packed full of everything you might expect to see in a teenage girl’s bedroom.
It’s a great example to show you to go along with my post outlining how to decorate, add style and storage to a small bedroom.

This girl loves bright colors and little bit of sparkle and glam!
There’s gold foil paper in the tissue paper garland above the headboard, gold metallic dots on a throw pillow and gold foil writing on some of the art in her gallery wall.
The tufted bright pink headboard is a pretty backdrop for a variety of fun throw pillows.
This exact headboard is no longer available, but I was able to find several simalar ones.

The heart of a thirteen year old girl is priceless to me. I remember being that age when friends were everything – this young lady is no different!

She’s slowly been adding to the gallery wall beside her bed, with the most recent additions being handcrafted birthday presents from some of her friends.

When trying to come up with decorating ideas for a teenage girl’s bedroom, we found inspiration in the form of a pretty teal blue braided rug. I’ve never seen one quite like it.

Her mom had been on the lookout for a rug that would be suitable for a teenager’s room for a long time.
She was after an 8′ x 10′ rug that was A) easy to clean and care for, B) durable, C) affordable and D) reflective of her daughter’s personality.
This exact rug is no longer available, there is a very similar one that is super affordable and comes in a myriad of sizes.

When she asked for my opinion on what type of rug she should get, I immediately said an indoor/outdoor one.
She was concerned about the comfort factor of an indoor-outdoor rug, but I encouraged her to give this a braided rug a try and it did not disappoint!
Braided rugs are often cushy underfoot and easy on the knees when crawling around on the floor.
Color was the theme of the day, so once the rug and headboard were in place the rest of the room easily came together.
Her mom’s own bedroom furniture, that she had herself as a teenager, was updated with a fresh coat of white paint.
To save money, they reused the same hardware, but gave it a coat of black spray paint.

Inexpensive lamps were updated with thrifted teal blue lampshades and an old wood jewelry box was given a coat of apple green paint for a pop of color.
One thing this small bedroom lacks is storage. It has a very small closet, but for stylish storage we added cute hooks with crystal knobs to the wall to hold purses, hats and other paraphenalia.
TIP: When you have open storage, be intentional with the items that you choose. They will be on display along with the rest of the decor in the room!

The desk is a Facebook Marketplace find that gained a new lease on life with paint and a cute chair.

The bulletin board is actually a thrifted mirror frame that has been painted black.
The frame was used to trace a cutout that then had cork added to it and covered with a coordinating piece of fabric.

Plain curtains can be tailored to fit in with any color scheme by simply adding wide grosgrain ribbon to the edge with fusible iron on tape.

One more thing to take note of is the chandelier. It shows just what can be done with an old brass chandelier and a can of spray paint!

I hope you enjoyed this tour and found lots of ideas to use from this colorful teenage girl’s bedroom. It was so much fun to put together!

Darling room! Cool rug. Am going straight to Rug Expedition to see if I can find a similar rug in neutral tones -I’ve searched everywhere for a braided look – one that I can afford to no avail! Thanks for the new to me site so I can see if I’ve finally found the rug that’s in my head!!
Love the room and the rug!
Rugs are hard to choose because they set the mood for a room, and if your choice is an expensive one, you live with it for a long time! This is a good idea: using an outdoor rug in a bedroom. I’m actually wanting a new runner for my hallway, and an outdoor rug would fit the bill!
Love Love Love this rug you have put on display! I could use one terribly for my at home office. I love your site and look forward to your post everyday! Shelley
For our daughters Christmas present and as a surprise, we are transforming her room from watermelon colors as a little girl to exactly what is above as a teenager! We have been undecided on colors until now after seeing this! Thank you!
Such a cute and fun room
That rug is so cute, love it!
