I can’t wait for you to see and I think you’re going to love it.

• I’m going to be totally transparent. Do you know what I’ve been struggling with the last several months? Waiting for a contractor who doesn’t communicate well. It isn’t the waiting – it’s the not knowing.

He’s a good, honest man, who has done great work for me before, but I gotta tell ya – it has been a learning experience for me in terms of handling my frustration as a Christian.

Has this ever happened to you?

• Have you started decorating for fall yet? I’ve made plans, but it seems that I’ve been thwarted at every turn.

I fully understand and sympathize with your frustration with the contractor. Because of storm damage to my roof (tree branch fell on it), I needed the roofing co. that put the new roof on 3 yrs. ago, to repair it (to keep the roof warranty on the new roof). The “customer service” rep. working with me, was horrible about communicating (simply refused to return texts, emails or phone calls), would schedule when they were coming, and then not show up. Three months later, I was so angry, I went directly to the office and spoke with the manager, and after explaining everything nicely but firmly, and showing the evidence of no returned communication, etc. (and finding out he never put anything in my record!), within one week they came out and repaired it-3 months later to the day of the storm damage. I was stuck in that I had guessed correctly that if I had gone w/another co. it would have voided my new roof warranty. But it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth about this roofing co. Then it took another 2 phone calls and 2 texts for them to pick up left plywood sheets and roofing paper off my drive! It was a stressful summer to say the least. (and in all of it, I didn’t know if the bad service was because I was a woman or it was just bad service given to everyone). All I can say, is be nice but firm when confronting their boss (if you need to) and document everything (with paper copies, as emails and texts don’t always “count.”), plus you will then have documentation to refer back to. I keep files on home repairs, etc. and have referred back to it multiple times over the years. Paper trails have saved me! It might be “old school” but it works! Good luck.

    1. Oh my – I’m so sorry you had such a bad experience. Thank you for the advice to back everything up with paper. I was counting on the vast amount of texts that I had sent him if needed.
