House Layout – A Tour Of My Home
With all of the images that I share of my home here on Worthing Court, it can be difficult to tell what the actual house layout is.
Today I’m excited to be joining several of my blogging friends for the Flow Of Home Tour hosted by my friend Jennifer of Town & Country Living, which gives me the perfect opportunity to talk about one of my favorite subjects! Be sure to scroll to the bottom to see more tours. I’ll be adding links to more throughout most of this week, so you’ll want to be sure to check back!
We bought this house a little over 5 years ago and completely remodeled the interior! Many of the changes were cosmetic, but a couple of the rooms we all but taken down to the studs.
Settle back with your favorite beverage because this is a picture heavy post! You can see the before and afters of all of the rooms that we remodeled (and have been decorated) by clicking HERE.
Let’s start at the most logical place, which is the front porch. Our home has a wide and deep, Southern front porch, that I enjoy decorating for every season!
The front door opens right up into the foyer, which has a stairway and entries going into two different areas.
This overhead view of the foyer will give you a little better perspective of where the doorways lead to.
If you take the wide doorway to your immediate left (after you enter the door), you’ll go straight into the office. Before we remodeled, our current office was originally this home’s living room. We didn’t need a living room, but we did need an office!
It’s pretty obvious from looking at the above image, that the doorway at the other end of our office leads right into the dining room.
Painting my dining room furniture was super scary, but I’m SO glad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone!
As you enter the dining room, from the office, if you were to take an immediate right, you would enter the kitchen and breakfast area.
The kitchen was one of the rooms that we completely ripped everything out of. I have zero experience with kitchen design, but I’m completely happy with the end result!
Our kitchen is one long room with the breakfast area located at the far end. We love all of the morning light that pours through the bay window!
From the breakfast room, you have your choice of going two different directions. One leads to the laundry room (not pictured), the powder room and on out to one of my favorite spots – the screen porch.
Going the other direction leads into our family room, but let’s take a really quick peek at the screen porch first. The swing was a birthday gift a couple of years ago and I have no problem whatsoever wiling away an afternoon there!
Now, let’s walk back into the house and go through the opposite side of our breakfast room, which leads you into the family room.
Our fireplace was originally red brick, with an oak surround and brass fireplace doors. Oh, the power of paint!
Making the decision to paint our entertainment center was another scary project!
Immediately to the right of the entertainment center is the hallway and door back into our foyer. The doors at the end of the hallway lead to a bathroom, bedroom and the master bedroom.
The door to the right (at the very end) leads into an extra bedroom, which could really serve as a second master.
And finally, our master bedroom is currently undergoing a makeover of it’s own! I’d love for you to tune in and watch the progress!
Next up on the agenda, after we finish working in the master bedroom, is the master bathroom!
If you’ve managed to stick with me to the end – bless you! You don’t want to miss the other two homes on the agenda today. And be sure to check back the rest of the week for more!

TUESDAY’S TOURS
You have a beautiful home!
So pretty!!
Very inspiring and looks very comfortable! Great decorating!
I’ve always been fascinated with floor plans, even as a little girl, so this tour was so enjoyable. Thanks to you ladies for sharing. Loved it!
I love your beautiful home! Such a generous office room! And the screened porch is heavenly! All the other rooms are gorgeous, too. You have very good taste and lots of decorating skill. Can’t wait to see your master bedroom when finished.
One question: I noticed you used vertical planking in one room. How did you decide to go with vertical versus horizontal? I do love the look of your vertical paneling. I am trying to decide between the two in my own house. I have a few walls I would like to panel. I am leaning towards vertical because I have 8 foot walls and I have read,, it will make the room look more spacious.
Hi Sandi. I’m so sorry that I didn’t answer your question sooner!!! I made the decision to go with vertical planking for three reasons: 1) it seemed that everyone was doing the horizontal shiplap look, 2) I think that shiplap will eventually lose its popularity and 3) I didn’t want to be stuck with a farmhouse look for the long term. Hope this helps!
Of course, your whole home looks lovely, Suzy! I would love to see an actual floorplan of your home! Was all of this on your first floor? I thought your master was upstairs. How many bedrooms/baths are upstairs?
Wow! Your home is gorgeous. I so loved taking the tour with my afternoon cup of coffee. Absolutely love your kitchen and breakfast room. I dream of doing our kitchen over one day. Thank you for the lovely tour. Pinning your beautiful images.
What a spacious, gracious home. I noticed that you have done some decor editing in some of the rooms. Great job! My only “negative” comment would be that the generous use of greenery in the rooms does become distracting from the calmness of the neutral colors and decor. Could just be the way it comes across in the photos though. the tour was really a fun idea and probably lots of work! Thanks!
Your home is absolutely gorgeous! Taking decorating tours is my favorite thing to do on decorating blogs!!
Just lovely as always!
Suzy, your home is perfection! I remember your first post about it when you moved in. It’s fun to see what all you’ve done with it. You have great style, my friend!
I really enjoyed your home tour. I am in love with your compact and neat kitchen area. Your interior design skills are brilliant. The entrance of the house looks cool with green plants. Your choice of furniture is classy. Do post the pictures of your master bedroom when you complete decorating it.
Thank you so much for your kind words! You can believe that I’ll be sharing more of our master bedroom! 😀
