I have six easy front door decorating ideas for spring to inspire you!
Each one of these turned my front entry into a cheery focal point for the spring season.
1. The Classic Look of Fresh Flowers Wreath
Spring is synonymous with fresh flowers, right? Make a grand first impression with a spring wreath that is overflowing with glorious spring blooms.
Of course, it isn’t practical to make a wreath using fresh stems, but for a lush wreath such as this one, I’m perfectly fine with using faux spring flowers instead.
Grapevine wreaths are my favorite base for wreath making and this design is bursting with just about every flower color you can think of. This wreath would be so much fun to make!
What a fabulous pop of color a wreath like this would add to your front entry. It is literally loaded with the look of fresh greens and a myriad of colorful blooms.
To make a lush wreath such as this, gather a generous collection of florals in bright colors and greenery stems. Then go to town cutting things apart (as needed) and tucking the ends of the stems in between the grapevine.
Since this is such a full wreath, you’ll likely need to help secure things with hot glue and/or floral wire.
Top the wreath off with a large bow made out of various ribbons that coordinate with the color palette that you used. The mix of vibrant colors will keep your front door looking fresh and welcoming throughout the season.
This simply fabulous wreath was made by Ashley from the Etsy shop, 3 Little Greenwoods. Ashley has readymade wreaths or can customize a wreath for you. Click HERE to check out her gorgeous creations.
2. The Vibrant Flower Basket Wreath
What’s even easier to decorate your front door with than a diy wreath, you ask? That, my friend, would be a hanging door basket.
There’s no glue or floral wire required when creating an arrangement such as this one. If I use stems that are especially long or heavy, I might place a piece of floral foam in the bottom of the basket, but that’s it. Most of the time I don’t use anything at all.
I chose a yellow color scheme for this basket because I was ready for a reminder of sunny days after the dreary, gray days of winter.
Greenery cut from the stems of artificial plants and leaves from a faux Boston fern bush breaks up all of the yellow and brings a natural look to the display.
TIP: Read this post for all the tips you need to put together a fabulous door basket.
To recreate a monochromatic look such as this, gather a variety of artificial flowers in the same color family. You’ll want a mix of small and large blooms. Add artificial greenery in the form of fern leaves and small bits from artificial plants.
To add drama, insert a long, flexible greenery bush so that the stems dangle over one side. For a final touch, add something unexpected by including a curly branch for a natural look.
A basket such as this adds a unique texture and natural elements, while the combination of flowers and greenery introduces bright colors and adds a lively vibe to any outdoor space.
3. The Minimalist Color Door Basket
If you don’t want something filled with such vibrant colors, this door basket is filled with flower and seed pod stems with a minimal amount of color.
The small pop of purple near the middle adds just the right bit of color to keep things from looking boring. And long artificial greenery stems give it an airy and almost elegant look.
A display such as this one is good for making first impressions with understated beauty.
When creating a hanging basket front door decoration, it looks best if you have a variety of heights within the arrangement.
Start by placing the longest stems toward the back, then work your way forward with medium and then short length stems.

As you add more and more stems, the basket will begin to fill and the stems will hold one another in place.
4. The Asymmetrical Symmetrical Wreath
Here’s a wreath with a bit of a different take on symmetry. It’s kind of a mix of symmetry and asymmetry all in one.
This kind of wreath is such an easy way to create a fresh take on a wreath.
The yellow and green stems on the left are balanced by a piece of burlap and ribbon that is wrapped around the right side.
I arranged long stems in two different directions, leaving a gap in the middle to accommodate a bow. The ends of the stems are tucked into the grapevine, while floral wire holds the long tips of them in place.
The piece of burlap and ribbon is wrapped around the wreath a few times, then the ends are hot-glued on the back side.

With a wreath like this, you can really play around with different fabric and ribbon bits to add your own personal touch.
5. The Colorful Blooms and Butterflies Door Basket
If you are D-O-N-E with winter and ready for spring, this one is perfect for early spring as the colorful blooms of forsythia are the star of the show.
A great trick for a long, skinny basket is to give it some extra ooomph by tying a large’ish bow around it. In this case, I used raffia ribbon, which adds a natural element.
Don’t overlook your local dollar store for accent pieces for your spring door decor!
At my store, I found these cute butterflies in vibrant colors that were a part of bushes of not-so-great-looking flowers. But at $1 per bush, I didn’t mind purchasing them just to get the butterflies.
They add a fun and whimsical touch to the basket that would otherwise be a bit boring.
6. The Seed Packet Wreath
I purposely saved this one for last. Out of all the wreaths that I have made over the years, this is one of my favorite front door decorating ideas for spring.
Not because I think it’s one of the most gorgeous wreaths ever, but because I just think it’s such a cute idea.
Entering the spring season, what could be better than a wreath made with seed packets?
Every single door decoration that I’ve featured here is all about the flowers, but aren’t we gardeners also prepping our soil for growing vegetables?
So what a perfect idea to use packets for vegetable seeds and a pair of gardening gloves to create a whimsical take on a spring wreath.
Even better – it’s a very inexpensive wreath to make. You can find wreath forms at craft stores and purchase seed packets and gloves at the garden store.
Wouldn’t it make a great gift for a gardening friend? Find the step-by-step tutorial HERE.
From the lush, eye-catching allure of spring flowers on a classic wreath to a vibrant flower basket or the playful whimsy of colorful blooms and butterflies, there’s something here for every taste and porch size.
Whether you’re working with a large outdoor space or searching for small porch ideas, each one of these projects is like a personal touch that says, “Welcome to our home”, to every visitor.
So say goodbye to those chilly winter vibes and hello to the bright, cheerful days of spring! Happy spring door decorating!
I love your front door wreaths…they shout spring! Since our front door isn’t used much, birds end up building a nest in my wreaths. Do you have any suggestions for other style decorations to avoid the nests?
Thank you! I have the same problem as you do with birds building nests. I’ve read that you can put balled up aluminum foil bits in the wreath as a deterrant, but I haven’t tried that. I know that you can order bird-deterrent spikes from Amazon, but I haven’t tried those either. LOL I’m routinely in and out of my front door, so I just make sure that I check the wreath at least a couple of times each day and clear any nest materials that I may find in the wreath. Wish I had a better answer for you!
Lovely spring door decor ideas! The pastel colors and floral touches really brighten up the entrance beautifully. Great inspiration!
