By bringing an elegant ambiance to your dining room for Christmas, even the most simple meal will feel like a special occasion. Every moment around the table will seem like a truly extraordinary experience.
Before I show you around my dining room though, let me welcome you to the Christmas Tours Bloghop, hosted by Simply 2 Moms.
At the bottom of the post, there are links to 30 bloggers who are sharing their Christmas homes all week long. Talk about loads of inspiration!
This annual bloghop is normally hosted by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life, but life had other plans for her this year. Please add Marty to your prayers as she navigates life’s sometimes choppy waters.
These bloghops are a tremendous amount of work for the hosts, so we are very grateful to these ladies for filling in!
In fact, if you’re coming over from Simply 2 Moms, welcome to Worthing Court! Ann Marie and Anne live across the street from one another and share their homes, healthy recipes, entertaining tips, and more. You’ll definitely want to visit their blog.
Alright, let’s dive into creating a space that’s perfect for Christmas gatherings. A space filled with holiday spirit, that encourages everyone to stay a bit longer and soak up the warmth of togetherness.
No matter how I decorate the other rooms in my home for Christmas, I always lean toward a more elegant vibe in my dining room.
The room really only gets used on special occasions, so I try to make the decor a reflection of that.
My color scheme for the room this year was inspired by a luscious silk ribbon from my stash.
The colors of sage green and burgundy could go with any style decor, but I chose to add sparkly gold to the mix to fit in with the elegant, festive vibe that I was going for.
TIP: For drama in a room, look for decorations with rich, saturated colors.
The tree was the first thing to get decorated and I always start with the topper. Once I get that looking the way that I want, the rest of the tree usually comes together pretty easily.
It may look complicated to do, but it’s really just a mix of different stems, loops of ribbon, and various ornaments tucked in here and there.
I would love to have a wider Christmas tree in here, but there’s only space for a skinny pencil tree if I want to be able to walk around the end of the table.
I was able to make it look a little larger though by filling it with eucalyptus stems, gold leaf stems and berry stems that are wired together into little bunches.
The glittery gold ribbon was very inexpensive, but it looks very luxe and festive and adds just the right touch to both the tree and centerpiece.
The centerpiece is another element in the room that looks complicated but isn’t at all.
You literally can create one like this in about 10 minutes!
This room looks entirely different than it did last Christmas. The hubs and I have become huge fans of consignment and thrift store shopping and have spent the last year giving this room a makeover.
I still have draperies to make, a chest to paint, chairs to recover, plates to hang, and a mirror to paint, but I’m smitten with the traditional’ness of it now. It’s very me.
One of my favorite additions to the room is the blue pagoda chandelier. It is the one thing that I splurged on, but it adds so much personality to the room. How cute are those gold “tassels”???
I need to paint the chest on the other side of the room and would love your suggestions for what color I should paint it.
If you look closely, you can see where I experimented with blue, but I can tell that just won’t work for me. Please leave your idea in the comments because I can’t make a decision!
Cut chenille throw pillows on the side chairs bring the shade of green to another part of the room.
I’ve been collecting plates to hang around the consignment store art that is above the chest, but I’m so nervous about nailing into the wallpaper.
Another favorite recent consignment store find is the sweet vintage cherub in the vignette on the chest. I love the aged look of it.
The mirror above the sideboard, on the opposite side of the room, is the one that I want to paint – probably the same shade of blue as the chandelier.
It’s another consignment store find as are the lamps, the sideboard, and the blue and white vase.
The swag on top of the mirror is made from two teardrop swags with faux sugared fruit on them. The ends of the swags are simply pushed together and secured with floral wire. So, so easy!
The arrangement in the vase is another easy-peasy one. It consists of two long evergreen stems with berries and two long gold leaf stems.
TIP: When arranging different types of stems in a vase, fluff and bend them so that they mingle together.

I love the direction you’ve taken your dining room. It is beyond beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. The chandelier ❤️. May I suggest painting the chest orange to bring that color in from the other room and compliment the chinoiserie porcelains you’ve sprinkled around. I once heard a tip for hanging things atop wallpaper is to cut a little V first then lift the paper and put in the nail. That way later you can remove the nail and tap the paper back into place later. Something like that but maybe research it first as my memory is cloudy at times. Can’t wait to see your fabric choices for this room. My husband and I share your fondness for consignment/thrift shopping. It’s our couples activity 😂.
Oooh – I never thought about orange/coral. Wouldn’t that be a pretty pop? I’m actually trying to decide if I’m brave enough to go with citrine. That will make more sense once I share the fabrics that I’m going to use in here.
Suzy, your DR is stunning with its elegance and tradition. We don’t use ours as much either as the homeowning kids like to host holidays. It still remains a favorite room to decorate.
I absolutely love your style, Suzy! Every bit of your dining room is perfectly decorated for Christmas, but that swag over your mirror is the show stopper!
Your home looks so beautiful for the holidays. So many great ideas. I love your pagoda chandelier. Stunning!
Everything is so elegant and beautiful! So very different than my typical style, but I love seeing how others pull off this gorgeous elegance for the holidays!
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Your dining room definitely looks different from last year! I love how Christmassy it looks! The Christmas tree is beautiful. I love how you layered and combined the ribbon. Great inspiration!
Blessings,
Lori
Wow, Suzy, the red and gold is really eye-catching, I love it! Your dining room looks amazing!
Happy Christmas! Pinned!
Suzy, I love all the elegant holiday details in your beautiful dining room! The tree is decorated so beautifully, I have to squish my tree into my dining room too, but it’s so worth it! Merry Christmas!
Suzy, your dining room is so beautiful all decorated for the holidays. I am always on the lookout for pretty tablescapes and I am so inspired by your Christmas setting. And I love your tree and the big gold deer. It’s like a display straight out of a magazine or a department store window display. Just stunning!
So happy to be touring with you this week. I pinned your tablescape to my Christmas board so I can remember it for next year. Merry Christmas!
Suzy your dining room is breathtakingly beautiful. I am filled with inspiration. Love the red and gold color palette.
Your dining room looks amazing! I love all the color and how you worked in the blue and white pieces – so festive!
Shelley
What an elegant Christmas dining room! I decorated my dining room for Christmas for basically the first time this year (last year it was just the tree) and it is so much fun! Do you know which brand of paint you are going to use on the furniture/ mirror?
Liberty
Hi Liberty. When painting furniture, I typically use Sherwin Williams Duration line. It’s what they recommended to me and I’ve used it a number of times. Very durable.
Oh I love your Traditional style for your dining room. Your table and chairs are amazing and so is that buffet. I think my favorite is also your Pagoda Candelier, stunning. You always create the most amazing trees, I love how you add so many great extras with your ribbons and stems. Thanks also for the well wishes, you are such a treasured friend. I am on the mend and feeling Blessed.
I am in awe of your dining room! The Christmas decorations and the new look are jaw-dropping! As a paint color for your chest, I was about to suggest repeating the blue of your chandelier when I saw you have that planned for the mirror frame. I would probably gold leaf the mirror frame.
It’s so fun Suzy to learn some of your tricks such as decorating with swags! I’m loving your dining room, which is truly festive and elegant with your holiday decorations! Happy Christmas!
Your dining room looks stunning all decked out for Christmas Suzy. And those green chenille pillows are gorgeous! It’s so impressive that you can have a big Christmas tree in this space and the colors are perfection. So much inspiration.
Suzy, you never fail to disappoint when it comes to your Christmas decor! Gorgeous! And seriously, I wouldn’t even know where to start decorating a tree like you!
🙂 Linda
Hi Linda! It’s wonderful to hear from you!. Thank you so much.
Stunning and elegant! That blue Pagoda Chandelier looks gorgeous in your dining room. I love how your incorporated the colors of sage green and burgundy. It coordinate with beautifully with the blues in the room.
Your decor is so classy and beautiful! I love that you have a tree in your dining room and the other festive touches! Really inspires me!
