Before we take a tour of my entire front porch, I want to welcome you to the Fall Ideas Tour, where 21 bloggers are sharing all things fall related to front porches and decks, mantels, tablescapes, diy projects and tiered trays. My friend, Angie from Postcards On The Ridge, is our fabulous hostess for the tour today. Be sure to scroll all the way, to the bottom where you’ll find links to everyone’s inspiring ideas!

No matter what part of my home I’m decorating, I need inspiration of some sort. It doesn’t matter if it’s just plain ole everyday decorating or decorating for a specific season or holiday.

My fall front porch was no different this year. Often times, I already have an idea of what I’m going to do, but not this year. But – I’ve learned that if I just allow my mind to calm down, inspiration will usually show up somewhere and that’s exactly what happened when I made a new fall wreath for my front door. By the way, you’ll find links to may of the items on my porch and links to the supplies that I used by scrolling all the way to the bottom of the post.

I’ve had a gorgeous Pottery Barn wreath (you can see it HERE) saved on my Pinterest fall decorating ideas board for ages. I love the simplicity of it and was just waiting for the right opportunity to come along to duplicate it!

The Pottery Barn wreath rings up for $149, but I was able to recreate the look for less than $20, by purchasing supplies when they were on sale! I used a 24″ grapevine wreath, one large-leaf faux ivy garland and a few small pumpkins, pinecones and fall colored berries. You can purchase the ready-made wreath from Pottery Barn or find links to all of the supplies that I used by scrolling to the very bottom of the blog post, after everyone’s projects.

The wreath was so simple to put together that it really wasn’t worthy of a blog post, but I did make a video of the entire process. You can view it by visiting my Instagram profile and clicking on the highlight button called “FallWreath”.

The rest of my inspiration came from the colors in the same rug that I used on my fall front porch last year  (which was one of my favorites ever btw). I just adore the mix of rich rust, gold and green.

Once the wreath was hung on the door and the layered rugs were in place, the next item on the agenda was to put together my matching urns that flank the front door. I’ll be honest and tell you that trying to come up with something a little different year after year can be hard, but digging through my stash of fall foliage saved the day when I ran across a few bundles of wheat that I purchased on clearance last year!

Assembly of the urns is another process that I made a video of. which you can find in the highlight called “Fall Urns” on my Instagram profile.

When the door area was completed I moved on to decorating the ends of the porch. Since our porch is so wide, I typically decorate each end pretty much the same with just a couple of very minor differences, which is a slightly different bench on each end as well as what is hanging above each of them.

The left side of the porch has a large metal medallion above the bench, which I really don’t do anything to, but I did add a pretty throw for fall to the area.

On the right side, I added my favorite throw in the history of throws ever to the back of one of the Adirondack gliders and tucked a few fall eucalyptus sprigs into the wall planter above the bench.

I used to worry what my neighbors would think about the fact that I’ve had pumpkins on my front porch for two weeks, but by now they’re used to the crazy blogger lady that lives here! Now I just need the weather to cooperate by giving us some gorgeous fall weather!

Oh how I envy you Ladies that can decorate for fall early ! Here in the desert I don’t put anything out until maybe a week or two before Thanksgiving ! Just too warm and that blaring sun would just ruin anything I put out ! Some day we will move back to 4 Seasons and I’ll get to enjoy a real fall ! Until then I get to see all your beautiful decor ! Happy Monday from HOT Arizona !

    1. I’ve been hearing how hot it is out your way. It’s still very hot here too with high humidity. Ugh. Not fall decorating weather, but I do it early in hopes that you’ll get some ideas!

  4. What a lovely fall porch! Your wreath is gorgeous and I love how you layered your rugs. I think I’d be hanging out there all day with a good book! Beautiful job!

  7. I look forward to seeing how you decorate you porch seasonally every single year. I remember how fabulous your fall porch was last year and this year’s is just as good. I love the wreath you made and how you decorated your urns. Your layered mats look so good as does the decorated for fall hanging basket under your lantern. If I were your neighbor, I would drive by slowly to take in all of your fall decor.

    1. Thank you Paula! I think we live close enough together that we CAN consider ourselves neighbors, so come on over!

  8. Suzy – your front porch is a showstopper! Simply gorgeous – and you offer so many great tips. Your front door wreath is a perfect greeting! Thanks for sharing so many wonderful ideas!

Hey Suzy! I *just* stumbled upon this post through researching fall front porch ideas for our home on Pinterest and I think you just hooked a brand new follower! I absolutely love your eye for design and am totally inspired! I apologize if it’s been asked or in an earlier post, but I couldn’t seem to find the info. I am in love with the exterior paint colors here. Do you know them off hand?

    1. Thank you so much and it’s nice to meet you! Our brick is painted Sherwin Williams Network Gray, mixed at 85% intensity, the front door is the same color at 100% intensity, the shutters are a dark charcoal gray by Sherwin Williams (sorry I can’t put my hands on the paint can at the moment) and the trim is all Sherwin Williams Extra White.
