My Cozy Winter Family Room
There is nothing better than snuggling up in a cozy winter family room when it is cold out!
When I was adding a little after Christmas winter decor to my family room, the #1 thing on my agenda was to create a feeling of warmth and coziness.
I used just about every trick in the book, that I could think of, to give Pookie and I that feeling of being enveloped in a warm and welcoming cocoon of coziness.
I sprinkled fuzzy, comfy, cushy throws throughout the room and added texture everywhere! This created an atmosphere of total relaxation!
Here’s a testament to the coziness. Our little scamp of a furbaby, Buddy, jumped right onto this fuzzy throw just as soon as I had it in place!
Winter can be hard to decorate for and keeping it cozy feeling is even harder! One of my tricks is to mimic what I see through my windows – evergreens, pinecones and white to represent snow, without the cold.
There’s a super simple coffee table vignette using an old wood tray and white pillar candles of varying sizes filled in with greenery and pinecones.
The woven basket on my fireplace hearth is filled with more greenery and a couple of grapevine orbs for even more texture and warmth.
And my fireplace mantel still sports the same greenery that was there for Christmas. You can take a closer look at my winter mantel and get step by step directions for making the wreath and snowflakes by clicking HERE.
Anyone who knows me at all, knows that I adore mixing patterns! And I made sure to mix several throughout this room – mixed patterns on the pillows that are scattered around, on the various throws and even on the floor pouf.
Do you have any tricks up your sleeve for keeping your home cozy during the cold and dreary winter months?
You are impressively generous with your replies. ?
Where did you purchase the wooden arch above your fireplace. It is beautiful
Thank you! I purchased it at Kirklands about 10 years ago.
