Christmas House Tour
Come on in for a Christmas home tour featuring all of the festive colors of the season!

My house has a split personality at Christmas. The rooms at the front of the house – the porch, foyer, office, and dining room – are usually decorated a little more dressed up and with their own Christmas color scheme.
The rooms at the back of the house – the living room, breakfast nook, and kitchen – are usually decorated a little more casually and with their own color scheme.
The rooms at the front of the house all open to one another, so I make sure that the decor in those rooms flows together.
In those rooms this year, I chose a color palette consisting mainly of deep red and burgundy, dark green, blue, and gold.
I kept touches in the foyer super simple by filling a favorite vase with blueberry and mini pomegranate looking stems and a gold wreath ornament on my lamp.
The office didn’t get much more – just a couple of burgundy velvet pillows and a few ornaments added to a brass bowl that resides in this room year round.
But – when you get to the recently madeover dining room, things heat up a little.
I opted for a tabletop tree on the sideboard this year, in lieu of a full size tree in the bay window.
It was so much simpler to decorate and I love the lushness of it.
I have to say that I do miss seeing the tree lights in the bay window from outside though. Maybe next year I’ll decorate a tabletop tree and put the full size tree in the window, but with no decorations on it.
I am very enamored with MacKenzie Childs Royal Check line. How perfect is the little vignette with a pair of their Royal Check deer nestled amongst greenery and few ornaments that match the tree?
I used a matching pair of their Royal Check Tabletop Urns to flank the centerpiece that put together.
When I fully set the table for Christmas Eve dinner, I’ll use their Royal Toile Small Plates, but once Christmas is over I’ll use them on my plate rack.
Moving to the back part of the house, where we actually live every day, I’ve use much more traditional Christmas colors.
To me, Christmas just isn’t Christmas without red. There are years in the past, when I didn’t use it at all, and even though I loved my holiday decor, I truly felt that the house was missing something.
It’s just such an impactful color and says instant Christmas to me. So, this year, I used it to my heart’s content.
My tree is almost always the first thing that I decorate each year. It takes days and is the most time consuming.
I dedicated a whole post to the tree, which you can read HERE if you’d like to take a closer look.
My love of chinoiserie is pretty evident, but the star of the show is the gorgeous D. Stevens Nutcracker Plaid ribbon. I’m kicking myself for not ordering more, because it’s very difficult to find right now.
I never feel ready to decorate the rest of the room until I see how my tree is going to turn out.
On the mantel, I used another pair of the MK Tabletop Urns simply because they are fabulous and look great paired with the rest of the blue and white in the room.
Magnolia and red berry stems with a bit of Nutcracker Ribbon added for the win. Yum and yum.
Not only am I sucker for MacKenzie Childs, I also covet the many pieces of Fitz and Floyd that I’ve collected over the years.
I added the pair of F & F reindeer to my collection a year or two ago. They’re actually candlestick holders, but on the mantel they’re up high enough that you can’t tell that.
My living room opens directly into the kitchen and breakfast nook, where I continued the Christmas red.
The most prominent feature in the breakfast nook is the plate rack, which I have so much fun changing up for every season and holiday!
And because I think they’re so stinkin’ cute, I have to give a shout-out to the pair of sweet mini pagodas in the upper corners.
For the centerpiece, a wooden tray contains a simple vignette with plaid ribbon and red berries on the breakfast table. Gotta love a centerpiece you can throw together in in 5 minutes!
The kitchen counters don’t need much – just a couple of very simple Christmas vignettes.
And lastly, there’s the little entry hallway immediately off of our garage entrance.
You can see that I went all out here. 😆 Red berries and a wreath with a red ribbon acting as a base for a chinoiserie container.
So there’s a little look around this year’s holiday home. I’ve felt like I’ve been running two weeks behind since before Thanksgiving, but somehow it all comes together.
I wish you the merriest of Christmas, my friends!
Sooooo beautiful. I really like your blue pieces.
